Lucien Beach is a superb Blue Flag beach in the popular holiday town of Margate, KwaZulu-Natal. Set on the opposite end of Margate’s main beach, Lucien Beach offers fantastic swimming opportunities and a less crowded family beach to relax on.

The warm water makes swimming possible at any time of the year, with the busiest times usually over the summer and Easter holidays. An adjacent tidal pool offers hours of fun for the little ones. The adjacent Uvongo Beach is just a short stroll away. Whales and dolphins can be spotted from the beach, particularly through the winter months.

Facilities include a small tuck shop, lifeguards on duty throughout the year, and environmental education programmes through the holiday season. The elevated parking area provides good views of the sea and ample parking space. Be warned that the beach is accessed by a set of steep stairs, making it inaccessible for those with physical disabilities.
