Brighton Beach is located on the Bluff area in Durban, KwaZulu Natal.

It’s one of two main beaches in the area, the other being Ansteys Beach.

The Bluff itself is one of Durban’s most recognisable landmarks with the Nelson Mandella tower prominently visible on the bayhead side of the Bluff. The word Bluff is derived from the Zulu word isibubulungu meaning a long, round shaped ridge, it also means “white mans bluff “, in reference to the white survivors of shipwrecks in that area.

Today the Bluff has undergone a social transition from predominantly working-class people to a vibrant holiday destination with a wide choice of guest houses and bed and breakfasts with stunning panoramic views of the Indian Ocean. The area is famous for its sea life with Dolphin and Whale watching in the winter seasons.
